Tenex Health TX® provides a minimally invasive way to remove painful bone spurs all over the body and treat conditions like Haglund’s deformity. Requiring only a mini-incision, it’s much faster than open surgery and precise in removing pain-causing bone and calcification. This less invasive alternative to open surgery uses image guidance to enable the precise cutting and removal of symptomatic bone and calcific tissue. Tenex is appropriate for patients where conservative therapies have failed.
Benefits of the Tenex procedure include:*
- A one-time treatment
- An out-patient procedure that takes only minutes to perform
- Typically performed with local anesthetic
- No stitches (requires only a small, adhesive bandage)
- May be covered by insurance
*Individual results may vary.

What to expect with the Tenex procedure
The simple procedure takes place in an outpatient setting. You typically remain awake while your doctor uses local anesthesia. It proceeds with a quick look using diagnostic imaging (such as ultrasound, fluoroscopy, or a C-Arm) to determine the exact source of your pain. Your doctor then makes a mini-incision and inserts the TX MicroTip. Using advanced ultrasonic energy, under imaging guidance, it precisely cuts and removes diseased hard tissue while preserving surrounding healthy tendons.
Your doctor will apply a sterile gauze. No stitches required.
Your doctor may recommend resting for a period, followed by range-of-motion and strength exercises. Recovery instructions may vary based on your specific condition.
